‘Groeipijn’ (the ache of growing) is an abstract translation of the journey towards womanhood as a woman of colour in the dutch context. The film explores the delicacy of the family dynamics and its impact on personal growth. On a quest to finding a way to break the pattern of dysfunction generation on generation. The film deals with racism and self-preservation.
